How long do photoshoots take? -It really depends what you are wanting! Ultimately the most important thing is to not rush. I like to take my time and get to know my clients, this also helps with relaxing about getting your photo taken and creates the genuine smiles and "natural" look everyone loves. This being said, photoshoots take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for portraits or family sessions.
What should I wear!? - What ever your heart desires! I am not the one to dress you up, I want you to be comfortable with what you look like in your session. If you really would like my opinion, from experience people usually wear basic clothing, jeans, a simple shirt (no distracting logos or words) and nothing that they will worry about getting dirt on or having to carry or constantly adjust. Less stress = more smiles!
How long in advance should I book photoshoots? - Please book as far ahead of time as possible! Planning your session is something I enjoy and get inspiration from and I like to be prepared as much as I can. I am not a fan of rushing anything, I like to take my time and do things right and with a clear mind. I want to ensure all my clients get all the attention they need, therefore I do not try and get as many clients as I can just to make more money. Because if I am rushing and not giving my 100% time and attention from thinking about other shoots or short time limits, I feel as the quality is comprimised. Quality vs Quantity. Thus resulting in limited bookings, so dont be disappointed by not being able to book a date with Exposure Studio, and book well in advance!
How long does it take to get my images after the shoot/How do I get my images? -Every collection I offer comes with all your digital images. Visit the "online galleries' tab at the top of the page and enter the password I have provided you with. Once I have completed all your images, I will contact you letting you know you can view and download them. Please be advised that your online galleries do expire so it is incouraged to download all your images as soon as possible. Depending on what your shoot includes, an average shoot takes around 2 weeks. Weddings are around 4-6 weeks depending on the type of wedding and how many pictures I have to go through. I do not like to rush editing and going through your images. During the summer it can get quite busy and waiting time can increase by one or two weeks. Trust me though, it is worth the wait! Do you use a professional camera and have editing software? - Yes, I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III professional camera and use Photoshop only to touch up imperfections and will keep the "editing" as simple and complimentary as possible without distorting the image. I do not believe in taking my time to photograph something just to tear it apart and "edit" in Photoshop. I like to think I am a lifestyle photographer, capturing amazing and memorable moments of life in a beautiful and simple way. This being said, I do not add in rabbits for Easter or sharks chasing people on the beach! I want people to look at my images and say "that is beautiful" not, "she photoshopped that in"!
I only need two or three pictures, can I get a deal ? - Here's the thing. You may be on a tight budget and do not have much money. You may not want to have your photos taken for an hour, 10 or 15 minutes sounds quick and easy. I get that you dont need 20 pictures, you just need an updated family picture right!? Because I am assuming you dont know much about photographing people, let me fill you in on a couple key things that I've learned. It takes time to warm up to the camera; You want that natural smile and perfect family picture, sometimes I do get it on the first try, but you show up with everyone, and I show up with my camera and take a couple "snap shots" that isnt really what I want to be hired for. People hire me to photograph precious moments that pass so quickly, that when the day is done, all they have is the timeless photographs to look back on. Also, my time is worth something; as much as I love photography I have to pay the bills too! Camera equiptment costs thousands of dollars, and that needs to be taken into account when you have a business. Driving to a session, taking pictures, driving home, going through each image and editing them all takes away from the time I could be spending with my family and living my own life. Two hours of my life and only $20? it just doesn't cut it. Quality over quantity!
How long have you been photographing for? - I have always had a creative mind (thank you mom), and was always the one in the family that hundreds of pictures of everyone. When I was 12 I saved up $1000 by collecting bottles and cans and bought my first DSLR Canon camera. I photographed my little brother and sister the most and watched them grow each and every day. Those pictures still mean the world to me. Throughout highschool I took a few classes to learn about photoshop and photography basics which was super fun! After graduation I took a more advanced course that took my around 8 months to complete, and I soon began to find people asking me to take their pictures. So here I am! "Professionally" photographing for 4 years and many more to come.
Am I allowed to print my pictures/ Do you offer print packages? - Understanding the importance of printing your images is a huge thing for me and I could go on forever! Social media is all the rage and I love it aswell, but if you are only looking to get a couple pictures for a new profile picture then you may be in the wrong place. Its all about the prints! You can never go wrong with a large show stopping family portrait in the living room.... I have a professional Epson Printer that I use for standard prints, to ensure colour matching and quality, aswell as being time effient. I also offer custom specialty products such as canvas, image cubes, press printed books, cards, magnets, metal and wood standouts and more. As for printing your own images, you are allowed. If there is one thing I may ask is do not go to walmart, vistaprint, Mpix, Blacks etc. The only place I have seen some OKAY prints is from Staples, but even then they are nowhere near as nice as professional prints and products. Many people will argue that there is little difference.... I have done tests of my own and I will take anyone up on that debate! Ordering prints from your photographer is better on every level. You are garunteed to get what you pay for. The colours will 100% be perfect and look as you would see on the digital image, which photographers have calibrating equipment to ensure so. Also many labs such as walmart can mix up images and have glitches that result in printing errors and random unwanted marks. Quality vs. Quantity!
